What a busy summer it’s been! The past month and a half has been a whirlwind of travel, work, and birthday preparations. I spent a few days in Pennsylvania visiting my family for my brother and sisters 17th birthdays (they’re triplets) and another few days visiting good friends in NYC.
Spent a weekend in beautiful Laguna Beach at a pool overlooking the ocean.
Last weekend I visited on of my friends in Los Gatos, CA (in the Bay Area).
I watched some kittens and Maggie got to meet them for the first time. They got along surprisingly well. The white kitten loved teasing her.
I did some design work for Paul Adelstein’s band, Doris, and just finished a facelift for The Spicy Stiletto. There was a failed attempt at soba noodles with miso sauce (tasted weird).
Then there was an incredible, incredible night of music and friends. It’s called the Summerland Tour. Basically my dream tour, only missing a few bands. Marcy Playground, Lit, Gin Blossoms, Sugar Ray, and Everclear. I’m majorly in love with all of them — they’ve played a big part in my growing up. I was so excited to share it with three of my very best friends, Lauren, Gabe, and Josh. We started with a picnic in the park, got our tickets upgraded to 7th row thanks to Lauren’s sweet talk, and spent the rest of the night singing.
Of course we had to track down our boys AJ and Jeremy Popoff from Lit for photos…
And finally, at midnight on Sunday night, Lauren and I went to AMP Radio, where our friend Casey was world premiering something we’ve been waiting 11 years for — the new No Doubt single, “Settle Down.” Lauren even hopped on air for a minute to express her thoughts on the new single and her love for the band.
All this has left me ordering take out or heating up Lean Cuisines. I haven’t even done much grocery shopping lately, just the essentials. Not very interesting food to post about on here. I think one of the biggest setbacks I face is my photography — now that it’s finally light out after I get home from work, I should be cooking and shooting my recipes while I can, but rejection from Tastespotting and Foodgawker is so discouraging. I’ve taken a personal pledge to shoot for me, and forget about what those websites say. If I keep holding back in fear that they don’t accept my photos, then I just sit with a sad, sad empty blog.
So for now I’m recharging and getting back into the swing of things. Tomorrow I’ll be posting about the dinner I made for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday (check it out here!!) and then ice cream cake of his dreams!
